Join us for a delightful spring day at the Chilhowee Recreation Area! We will embark on an easy 1.5-mile hike (each way) to the stunning 65-foot Benton Falls. For those feeling adventurous, there is a flight of somewhat challenging steps leading down to the water, but beautiful views of the waterfall are accessible without descending the steps. After enjoying the falls, participants may choose to return to the Chilhowee Recreational Area or tackle a more challenging (5-miles) trail loop back to the parking lot.
The area also features a picturesque mountain lake a sandy beach and picnic tables, perfect for those wishing to extend their stay and enjoy a leisurely day outdoors.
Janet and Dan relocated to Cleveland from Memphis and became members of Broad Street soon after their arrival. They raised their three daughters here and gradually over the years began exploring the nearby mountains and increasing their hiking adventures.
We hope to see you there for a day of adventure and camaraderie!
Things to bring: Wear comfortable hiking shoes and layered clothing for possible variation in the weather. Bring a small backpack or bag with water and snacks. Some people prefer using hiking sticks or poles - that is your choice, but good running or hiking shoes are a must. For those who want to extend the day, bring a picnic lunch and your fishing pole or a comfortable lawn chair with a good book.
Parking: The Chilhowee Recreation Area has a large paved parking lot, but there is a $3 (cash only) fee.
